Never underestimate the underdogs of the gaming world: these indie titles from small teams could be 2018’s biggest surprises.
While everyone else is getting excited about blockbuster triple-A games for 2018 like Far Cry 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, and (hopefully) Crackdown 3 for Xbox One X, we’ve been thinking about the little guys of the gaming world. Smaller teams can lead to a more direct vision and culminate in some genuinely creative experiences: believe Jonathan Blow’s seminal work Braid, or the brilliance that is Undertale, and let’s not forget one of the best indie games ever made: Spelunky.
From Fez to Papers, Please, or Bastion to Don’t Starve, we’re excited about next year because there are some incredible looking indie games on our digital wish list. Some are sequels, some are from seasoned development teams, and some are debuts, but regardless, these are the most significant and best indie games you want to keep firmly on your radar.
Here’s the list:
1. Super Meat Boy Forever
2. Indivisible
3. The Last Night
4. Wytchwood
5. Ooblets
6. Skelattack
7. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
