In an article published in Gamasutra.com Jonathan Ying and Andrew Fischer, lead designers of Fantasy Flight’s 2017 Fallout board game, explain why they describe the task as “rather daunting.”
With Fallout’s status as a solid open-world video game full of player freedom and choice, their primary concern was how he was going to adapt such an elaborate video game into a simple two- to three-hour board game.
Moreover, the designers had to contend with the fact that the properties they’d been tasked with adapting were primarily known as single-player experiences and in order to add additional players to these properties, they had to work mechanically and fit thematically.
